Core Cost Savings

When trying to produce cores with challenging geometries there can be many challenges both in the shooting phase and the curing phase.  The following webinar looks at how simulation was used to predict core defects for the shooting phase as well as the curing phase for a turbocharger volute core.

Autonomous Engineering® was used to test 1000+ different venting configurations which yielded a number of acceptable designs.  A cost analysis was then performed on these acceptable designs where purging times became the main focus since a reduction in purging time can translate into a reduction in labor costs and thus the manufacturing costs for the volute core.
