Minimizing Iron Casting Costs With Autonomous Optimization (Part 1 of 2)

This is the first of two episodes where the casting cost of a vertically parted ductile iron casting was calculated and used as an objective to design a gating system. This first example goes through setting up an optimization project where 1080 designs were simulated and concludes with using Autonomous Optimization to quickly determine an optimum design. Along the way, different filling patterns and manufacturing costs for every design are analyzed using different functionality within MAGMASOFT®.

(Please note: although this is part 1 of 2, each of the webinars stand on their own. It is not essential to see both, or see them in a specific order, they are two different cast studies that illustrates this concept. However, there are different dynamics in each so to truly appreciate the concept being presented, seeing them both is recommended.)
